Save The Parish summer conference in York

Click here for information about Save The Parish's summer conference in York in early July - speakers and details of how to book your (free!) place. The Summer Conference will focus on  hearing about the power of parishes to impact their local communities through service, and how those parishes so badly need our support.

The Save the Parish campaign was established just under two years ago. In a relatively short time, it has grown from a campaign to get like-minded, parish-supporting people onto the General Synod (of which we now have over 150) to a growing, multi-faceted campaign to help, support, campaign, and champion Parishes.

This in person event at St Lawrence parish church in York on 6th July, the day before General Synod starts, will be an opportunity to hear from and meet with those on the STP team, listen to some excellent presentations by friends of the campaign, and get to know fellow supporters.

We have some excellent speakers for you to listen to throughout the day, including:Rachael Maskell who is the Member of Parliament for York Central, and has been since 2015. She was Shadow Environment Secretary from 2016 to 2017 and Shadow Employment Secretary in 2020, and is a current member of the Ecclesiastical Committee in Parliament. She worked as a care worker and a physiotherapist for 20 years, before being elected to Parliament.Eddie Tulasiewicz, who is the Head of Communications and Public Affairs for the National Churches Trust. Eddie's mission is to make sure that people know about the vital work we do to safeguard the UK’s church heritage.Revd Marcus Walker who is the Rector at St Bartholemew the Great in the City of London, was ordained in 2011 and served for three years in London. Born in Jerusalem, he spent his childhood in the Holy Land, Moscow and Cairo. For four years Marcus was Deputy Director of the Anglican Centre in Rome, the Anglican Communion’s embassy to the Vatican. He is co-founder of the Save the Parish movement.

We will be meeting at St Lawrence Parish Church, Lawrence Street, York YO10 3WP, beginning at 12:00. During the conference, lunch and tea/coffee will be provided.

The event will close with sung evensong at St Lawrence starting at 18:00, followed by a drinks reception.

The event is free and open to all. We look forward to seeing you there.
